Obituary of George Irvin Coulbourn Sr. GEORGE IRVIN COULBOURN SR The Virginian-Pilot - Saturday, December 20, 2003 George Irvin Coulbourn Sr., 96, died Dec. 18, 2003, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 29, 1907, in Smithfield, Va., he was the son of the late Goldsborough Greenfield and Annie Tilghman Coulbourn and widower of Anna Cohoon Coulbourn. Mr. Coulbourn was the retired founder and vice president of Coulbourn Lumber Co. He was the founder of a number of businesses in farming and lumber export and earned the Presidents E award for the exporting of lumber. Survivors include his daughter, Lucy Coulbourn Lange of Seattle, Wash.; a son, George Irvin Coulbourn Jr. of Black Diamond, Wash.; sister, Katherine C. Edwards of Falls Church, Va.; brothers, William C. Coulbourn of Hampton Bays, N.Y., Uriah F. Coulbourn of Windsor, N.C.; grandchildren, Kathryn Mitchell, George I. Coulbourn III, John C. Coulbourn, Jennifer A. Lange, Paul W. Lange; and great-grandson, John W. Coulbourn. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Ed Pickup. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the home of T.F. and Rogie Hofler, 4538 Sleepy Hole Road, Suffolk.
