Virginian Pilot 27 Sept 2001 page B7 Benjamin Alton Council Jr., 74, died Sept. 25, 2001, at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin. Born Feb. 10, 1927, he was a son of the late Benjamin A. Council Sr. and Edith Eulala Horne Council. He was a retired long-distance truck driver for Smithfield Packing, a member of Ivor Hunt Club and a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. Mr. Council is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nannie Felts Council; two daughters, Billie Fay Coleman and husband, Steve of Andrews, N.C. and Beverly C. Bryant and husband, Jerry of Franklin, Va.; four grandchildren, Ginny Holloway and husband, Brody, Steven Coleman Jr., Michael Bryant and Patrick Bryant; a great-granddaughter, Kilby Lee Holloway; a sister, Edith C. Cobb of Ivor; and a brother, Wayland Council of Ivor. He was the brother of the late Emerson Council. A funeral will be held at Purviance Funeral Home Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steven D. Coleman Sr. and the Rev. Steven R. Gupton officiating. Burial will be in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery in Zuni, Va. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence of Jerry and Beverly Bryant, 301 Meadow Lane, Franklin.
