He was a son of the late William and Lizzie Council and was a retired jailor for the Southampton County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Bethel Friends Meeting. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Johnson Council; a daughter, Loretta Council Felgentreu of Courtland; three sons, Billy Council and his wife, Dorothy, of Lawrenceville, Ga., Bobby Council of Franklin, and John Council and his wife, Charlotte, of Sumter, S.C.; a sister, Victoria Leake; nine grandchildren, Janet F. Stephens, Kevin Felgentreu, Jason Council, Dustin Council, Holly Council, Bethany Council, Amber Council, David Rose and Dean Rose; seven great-grandchildren, Shyene Rose, Nika Rose, Tiffany Rose, Brittany Rose, Michaela Rose, Morgan Rose and Shane Stephens; a son-in-law, John Felgentreu; and a host of cousins.
