(headline) Virginian Pilot  05-07-2002 SUFFOLK  Howard Brightwell Cralle, Jr., 75, of the 2700 block of Lake Cahoon Road, died May 6, 2002, in Obici Hospital. He was a native of Evergreen, Va., and retired after 32 years of service as a telegraph operator for N&S Railway, formerly N&W Railway. He was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II. He was the son of the late Howard B. Cralle Sr. and Christine Neill Cralle. He was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew B. Cralle. Survivors include his wife, Katherine A. Cralle of Suffolk; daughter and son-in-law, Judith Ann and Ronald O. Turner Sr. of Suffolk; son, Howard B. Cralle III of Franklin; grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Cralle and Ronald Turner Jr.; sister, Frances H. and Daniel A. Clapp of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell and Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. David Jendrey. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
