Obituary of Raleigh Carson Cutchins RALEIGH CARSON CUTCHINS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, March 29, 2000 Raleigh Carson Cutchins, 82, known as ``Punk'' to his family and ``Shorty'' by his friends, died March 27, 2000. Born in Southampton County, he was a son of the late Clarence Lee and Janie Futrell Cutchins and the widower of Eva Newsome Cutchins. He was well known in the area as an ace mechanic, for his short stature, his love of people and a merry heart. Survivors include three daughters, Toni Thompson of Rock Hill, S.C., Regina C. ``Gina'' Lowe and her husband, Garland, of Ivor, and Peggy C. Kannan and her husband, Robert, of Franklin; a son, Raleigh J. Cutchins of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Clara Mae Benson of Emporia and Ann C. Bess of Newsoms; three brothers, H. Paul Cutchins of Virginia Beach, James C. Cutchins of Zebulon, N.C., and Robert Lee Cutchins Sr. of Franklin; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Faison and the Rev. David Dillon officiating. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Bob and Peggy Kannan, 506 Lee St., Franklin.
