Obituary of Miriam Layne Dameron MIRIAM LAYNE DAMERON Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - December 28, 2000 Miriam Layne Dameron, 86, a 62-year resident of the Franklin community, died Dec. 26, 2000, at the East Pavilion. Mrs. Dameron was a native of Goochland County and was the widow of Thomas Judkins Dameron Sr. and a daughter of the late George Washington and Carrie Armentrout Layne. She was a longtime member of Franklin Baptist Church and an avid gardner who shared the fruits of her labor of love with friends and neighbors. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy D. Scott and her husband, Bobby C. Turner, of Franklin; a son, Thomas J. Dameron Jr. and his wife, Beverly, of Annandale; a sister, Evelyn L. Bowles of Richmond; three grandchildren, Mark Scott of Centreville, Md., Leslie Myers of Centreville, Va., and Eric Dameron of Annandale; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dameron was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters, who were all of the Richmond area, George Layne, Harvey Layne, Valley Booth, Emma Gathright, and Ruth Ellis. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Roy DeBrand officiating. The burial will be at Poplar Spring Cemetery.
