Darden, 83, of Gloucester, died Friday, Nov. 21, 1997, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. Miss Darden retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1966 with the rank of Colonel, after serving for 30 years. At the time of her retirement, she was the chief nurse at the hospital at Langley Air Force Base. Col. Darden was a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing. She belonged to the Retired Officer Nurses Association and to the University of Virginia Alumni Association. She is survived by her sister and her husband, Marqurite and Col. Adam Koscielniak of Ware Neck; niece and her husband, Carol A. and Hugh Dear of Ware Neck; and two nephews and their wives, Douglas and Jennifer Dear of Great Falls and David and Carrie Dear of Pollys Island, S.C. Burial will be private.
