MINNIE LOU DARDEN LANKFORD

Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - October 11, 1998 

Minnie Darden Lankford, 56, died Oct. 10, 1998. 

A native of Nansemond County, Va., she was a daughter of the late William Goldie and Virgie Johnson Darden. Minnie was a 1961 graduate of Holland High School and the co-owner and operator of Maynard's Grocery. 

Survivors include her husband, Joseph William ``Joe Billy'' Lankford; a son, Neil Lankford and special friend, Jennifer Robertson; five sisters, Doris D. Hill and Glenn D. Taylor, both of Franklin, Sandra D. Cook of Newsoms, Mae D. Whitmore and Joyce D. Buhls, both of Suffolk; her mother-in-law, Lillian D. Lankford of Carrsville; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, William C. Darden, Thomas R. Darden and James A. Darden. 

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Richard L. Peerey with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and at other times at the home of Mrs. Lillian Lankford, 29119 Walters Hwy., Carrsville. Memorials may be made to the Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 3593 Carrsville Hwy., Franklin, Va. 23851 or to the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 27, Carrsville, Va. 23315.
