William Thomas Darden , 68, of Statesville Road, Newsoms, a farmer, died Jan. 24, 1993, in a Franklin hospital. 

Mr. Darden was born in Nansemond County, Va. He was a member and former superintendent of the Barnes United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Betty Everett Worrell Darden ; two daughters, Betty Darden Corbin of Jacksonville, N.C., and Barbara Everett Darden of Greenville, N.C.; two sons, William Thomas Darden Jr. of Hackensack, N.J., and Bobby Carlton Darden of Newsoms; a sister, Virgie Darden Beale of Franklin; two brothers, Harvey James Darden Jr. of Branchville and John Ashley Darden of Newsoms; and a grandson, William James Corbin of Jacksonville. 

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Newsoms Cemetery by the Rev. Charlene Beethovan. McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, is handling arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Barnes United Methodist Church Building Fund.
