Born May 3, 1918, in Nansemond County, he was a son of the late James Ralph and Maggie Lee Crocker Daughtrey. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and past president of the Men's Bible Class, a member of Carrsville Ruritan Club and retiree with 36 years of service from Union Camp Corp. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Grace Henry Daughtrey; two daughters, Linda D. Johnson of Franklin and Carol Lee D. Carr of Suffolk; a son, James H. Daughtrey of Suffolk; three brothers, Robert Daughtrey of Ahoskie, N.C., and James R. Daughtrey and Aubrey Daughtrey, both of Suffolk; five grandchildren, William Bradley Johnson, Valerie H. Revelle, Rodney Allen Holland, Clay Corbitt Johnson and Kelsey Daughtrey; and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Revelle, Megan Revelle, Triston Holland, Justin Holland, Logan Johnson, Paige Johnson and Blake Johnson.
