MARY SUE DAUGHTREY SPENCER

Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - June 1, 2002 

CARRSVILLE - Mary Sue Daughtrey Spencer, 90, of the South Quay area of old Nansemond County and a longtime resident of Carrsville, died May 30, 2002. She was a daughter of the late Robert Soloman and Annie Lou Steinhardt Daughtrey and the widow of Clarence L. Spencer. Mrs. Spencer was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and the first woman deacon of the church. She was a member of the Carrsville Home Demonstration Club. 

Survivors include a brother, James Henry Daughtrey and wife, Lois, of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Eunice Wright Daughtrey of Carrsville; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert  J. H. "Bobby" Daughtrey. 

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Beaver Dam Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Richard L. Peerey and the Rev. Dr. M. Reginald Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home and suggests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 1224, Franklin, VA 23851.
