Rebecca Louise Davenport Wise, 88, of the 1100 block of W. Main St., died Feb. 12, 1999, in Hampton Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center, Jackson, N.C.
Born in Southampton County, Va., she was a homemaker and the widow of Marshall J. Wise. She was a member of Meherrin Baptist Church, Murfreesboro.
Survivors include four daughters, Edna Jane Wasilewski of Kensington, Md., Dorothy Davenport of Richmond, Gloria Jean Nachbar of Winter Springs, Fla., and Carolyn G. Lassiter of Woodland, N.C.; six sons, Thomas H. Davenport Jr. of Williamsburg, James W. Wise and Douglas R. Wise, both of Virginia Beach, Gordon ``Buddy'' Wise of Murfreesboro, Lewis ``Mac'' Wise of Virginia Beach, and Harold ``Mickey'' Wise of Knightdale, N.C.; two sisters, Clifford Patrick of Arnold, Md., Isabel Holt of Belleview, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Meherrin Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, N.C., by the Rev. Billy Sellers. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, Va. A private family visitation will be held at Garrett Funeral Home, Murfreesboro, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
