Obituary of EVANDER AYERS DAVIS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 3, 1992 Evander Ayers Davis, 92, of the 300 block of Clay St., a retired Southampton County Agricultural Extension agent, died March 2, 1992, in a hospital. Mr. Davis was born in Bladen County, N.C. He had retired from the Virginia Department of Agriculture after 36 years. He graduated from North Carolina State University, where he also earned his master's degree in soils. He was a past president of the Virginia County Agents' Association and the Franklin Rotary Club. He was a member and former deacon of Franklin Baptist Church and a member of Orr Masonic Lodge, Washington, N.C. Survivors include his wife, Emma Waddill Davis; a daughter, E. Joyce Davis of Franklin; a son, Frank W. Davis of Columbia, S.C.; and two grandchildren. The graveside service with Masonic rites will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Michael J. Clingenpeel and the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins.
