A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a retired farmer. He was a graduate of the Class of 1948 of Smithfield High School and attended Ferrum Junior College. Mr. Delk was a past member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church and chairman of the Mill Swamp Cemetery Committee. He was a current member of Smithfield Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Anne Brown Delk; three sons, Louis Michael Delk of Smithfield, Jerry Randall Delk of Ivor and David Martin Marty Delk of Smithfield; a sister, Jan Delk Batten of Smithfield; a brother, James Allen Delk and wife, Frances Delk, of Smithfield; and five granddaughters, Abbey Delk, Kayla Delk, Caitlin Delk, Megan Delk and Maria Delk. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Pete Batten. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, by Dr. Don Rhoton. Interment will be in Mill Swamp Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
