He was a native of Isle of Wight County and was the son of the late Oscar James Dickerson Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Minton Dickerson. He was a retired welder from Newport News Shipbuilding and a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. Dickerson; two sons, James Thomas Dickerson and Robert E. Dickerson of Ivor; two daughters, Linda D. Harrup of Ivor and Donna K. Pair of Windsor; two brothers, Bobby E. Dickerson of Elberon and Linwood Earl Dickerson of Windsor; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Leach of Ashboro, N.C.; and Kathleen Louise Furino of San Fernando Valley, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Millfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Ivor. Friends may call at the family residence, 20420 Todd Ave., Battery Park, this evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Isle Of Wight Rescue Squad or the American Cancer Society. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, is handling the arrangements.
