Florence Gardner Dodson, 80, died Jan. 14, 2001, at her home. 

Mrs. Dodson, the widow of George Edward Dodson, was a native of Norfolk and was a daughter of the late William Elbert and Verna Fagan Gardner. She was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. 

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Dodson of Severna Park, Md., and one sister, Vivian Gregory of Suffolk. Mrs. Dodson was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Lynn Dodson, and one sister, Mavis Babb. 

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Charles E. Chappell. The family will receive friends at the Village at Woods Edge immediately following the funeral. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
