Obituary of Alfred Dwight Doggett ALFRED DWIGHT DOGGETT VA.PILOT - 03-21-2004 SMITHFIELD - Alfred Dwight Doggett, 82, of Courthouse Highway died Saturday, March 20, 2004 at his home. Born Aug. 7, 1921, he was the son of Everett Henry and Brenda Griffin Doggett. He was a native of Isle of Wight County and a retired farmer. Mr. Doggett was a lifelong member of Woodland United Methodist Church. He served in the Navy for four years during World War II. He was a founder and past board member at Isle of Wight Academy, The Bank of Isle of Wight and Prescription Fertilizer Company. He was a charter member of the Isle of Wight Ruritan Club, a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Isle of Wight Hunt Club. Mr. Doggett was predeceased by one sister, Brenda Griffin D. Garner, and a granddaughter, Dana Elaine Doggett. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Scott Doggett; a daughter, Deborah "Jean" D. Moody and her husband Johnny of Smithfield; two sons, Alfred "Dwight" Doggett, Jr., and his wife Evelyn of Windsor and Michael Scott Doggett and his wife Connie of Windsor; a sister, Eula Belle D. Drewery of Windsor; a brother, Everett Henry Doggett, Jr. of Smithfield; and eight grandchildren, Michelle Lee Moody, John Raymond Moody, Jr., Kara Meredith D. Hearn, Rachael Marie Doggett, William Dwight Doggett, Susan Victoria Doggett, Stacey Alena Moody and Michael Scott Doggett, Jr. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, with the Revs. Robert Cofield and Connie Gibbs officiating.
