Robert Edward Drake, 74, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 1995, at Lynchburg General Hospital. 

Mr. Drake was a native of Southampton County and was the son of the late James L. and Ronie D. Drake. He was a Methodist. 

Survivors include one sister, Mabel Drake Sanford and her husband, Jutt; one sister-in-law, Estelle Burgess Drake; two nephews, J. David Drake and Danny R. Drake, all of Newsoms; and several cousins. Mr. Drake was predeceased by one brother, Sylvester James Drake. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms, by the Rev. Pat Tony. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
