The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - October 4, 1995 Junius Timothy “Buddy” Duck Jr., 71, of the 100 block Bobwhite Lane, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 1995, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth. Mr. Duck, a longtime Franklin merchant, was a lifelong resident of Franklin. He was the son of the late Junius Timothy Sr. and Elizabeth Brown Duck. Mr. Duck owned and operated “Buddy's Lunch” from 1948 to 1974. During World War II, he worked in the Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth. After his retirement in 1974, Mr. Duck drove a school bus for the city of Franklin and was one of the first employees of the Winn Dixie Grocery Store in Franklin. He was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Cutchins Duck; one daughter, Betty A. Duck; three sons, Junius T. “Tim” Duck III, John R. Duck, all of Franklin, and Charles R. Duck of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Candace Duck, and Matt Key of Franklin and Robert Duck of Nags Head, N.C. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Reginald Warren.
