Louis Edward Duke , 91, of the 1700 block of Box Elder Road, died April 17, 1991, in a hospital. 
Mr. Duke , a native of Gates County, N.C., was a retired farmer. He was a member of Holland Baptist Church and Davis Riley Hunt Club, Courtland. He was the widower of Erma Byrd Duke 
Survivors include a sister, Mary L. Duke of Raleigh. 
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles R. Bell and Herschel Hill. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and other times at the home of Linwood Carr, 6612 Holland Road. 
Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Mr. Duke, a native of Gates County, N.C., was a retired farmer. He was a member of Holland Baptist Church and Davis Riley Hunt Club, Courtland. He was the widower of Erma Byrd Duke.
