He was a native of Newsoms and was a member of Newsoms United Methodist Church. He attended Duke University as an Angier B. Duke Scholar and was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Atlantic Christian College, Wilson, N.C. He was formerly employed as a journalist for The Tidewater News in Franklin. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Linda W. Duke; two daughters, Kathryn Bernice Duke and Elizabeth Ruth Duke of Birmingham; his mother, Bernice R. Duke of Newsoms ; his father and mother-in-law, Ramon E. Warren Jr. and Ruth Braudrick Warren. He was the son of the late Robert L. Duke Sr. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Newsoms United Methodist Church by the Rev. Pat Tony and the Rev. Kenneth Williams. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery in Newsoms .
