FLORENCE LEAKEY EDWARDS

Florence Leakey Edwards, 90, widow of Leverette "L.E." Edwards, died
Sept. 13, 2004, at the Riverside Convalescent Center, Smithfield. A
native of New York City, she was the daughter of the late William and
Elsie Schaefer Leakey. She retired from the Selective Service System and
was a member of Franklin Womens Club, Eastern Star, and the Bridge Club.
Mrs. Edwards was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, Womens Missionary
Union, Deacon Board and choir. She served as church director of WMU and
chairman of the Elizabeth Hale WMU Federation of Blackwater.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Wright
Funeral Home with the Rev. Sharon James officiating. Burial will follow
in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7 to
8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home of Randy
and Jane Jones, Ivor. Memorials may be made to the Franklin Baptist
Church, 208 N. High St., Franklin, VA 23851 or Franklin Cooperative
Ministry, 511 N. Main St., Franklin, VA 23851.
