Mr. Edwards was born in Sussex County and was a retired supervisor for Virginia Power. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons, was president of the Bruner Bible Class and a member of the 39ers Club. He was president of the Davis Ridley Hunt Club, secretary-treasurer of the P.D. Camp Hunt Club, president of the Forks of the River Ruritan Club and Fred's Coffee Club. He was active in Franklin Masonic Lodge (NU)151, A.F. & A.M. Survivors include his wife, Florence Leakey Edwards; a sister, Thelma E. Nurney of Ivor; two brothers, Frank T. Edwards of Williamsburg and C.P. Edwards Jr. of Windsor; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Franklin Baptist Church by Dr. Roy DeBrand, the Rev. Sharon E. James and Dr. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial with Masonic rites will be at Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
