Mable Applewhite Edwards, 82, died Feb. 27, 1998, in Courtland , Va. 

Mrs. Edwards, a native of Southampton County, Va., was a daughter of the late Ashton Eugene and Patti Vann Applewhite. She assisted her husband for many years in the family furniture business and was a member of Conway Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Sidney Myrick Edwards; a sister, Letha A. Larson of Fayetteville, Pa.; a brother, Lloyd Allen Applewhite of Courtland ; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ethel A. Presson and Laura L. Applewhite; and two brothers, Emmett M. Applewhite and Ashton Eugene Applewhite Jr. 

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Dr. Donald J. Dunlap. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland . The family will receive friends at Courtland United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the committal service and suggests that memorial donations be made to Conway Volunteer Fire Department or the Conway/Severn Rescue Squad, Conway, N.C. 27820.
