Obituary of Myrtis Midkiff Edwards MYRTIS HAYES MIDKIFF EDWARDS Virginian Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, February 18, 2003 SUFFOLK - Myrtis Midkiff Edwards, 84, died Feb. 16, 2003, in Elizabeth City. Born Jan. 5, 1919, in Franklin, Va., she was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary Keiffert Hayes and widow of Henry Baird Edwards Jr. She was predeceased by her first husband, Clarence Edward Midkiff. In Suffolk, Mrs. Edwards was a member of West End Baptist Church and former member of the Junior Woman's Club and the Tuesday Afternoon Book Club. In Richmond, she was a member of Chamberlain Baptist Church. She was retired from Community Electric Corp. as office manager. Survivors include her son, Clint Midkiff of Elizabeth City; stepdaughters, Anne Baird Travers of Richmond, Leigh Hilldrup of Powhatan, Lindsey Chadduck of Winchester, Susan Moore of Richmond; stepson, Henry B. Edwards III of Richmond; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. T. Floyd Irby, with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service time Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 20 Interstate Corporate Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, VA 23502-4006, or to a charity of choice.
