Obituary of Orice Mae Hines Edwards ORICE MAE HINES EDWARDS Virginian Pilot - 06-23-2003 ZUNI - Orice Mae Hines Edwards, 95, widow of John Talmadge Edwards, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at her home. A native of Southampton County, she was the only child of the late Orice Quincy and Pattie Mae Barnes Hines. She was valedictorian of Wakefield High School and attended Farmville State Teacher College and Madison College. She was a retired teacher, having taught in Unity and Sedley. Mrs. Edwards was the oldest member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She had been active with the Royal Ambassadors and WMU. Survivors include four daughters, Jean E. Edwards and her husband, Cecil, of Sedley, Mary Lois E. Davis and her husband, Kennethy, of Seaford, Linda E. Bowery and her husband, Wayne, of Blountville, Tenn., and Annie Edwards of Richmond; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, with the Rev. Steve Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence, 36688 Unity Road. Memorial may be made to Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, 37527 Seacock Chapel Road, Zuni, VA 23898; Southampton Memorial Hospice, 100 Fairview Drive, Franklin, Va. 23851; or the Children's Center, 700 Campbell St., Franklin, Va. 23851.
