Obituary of Robert Edmond Edwards ROBERT EDMONDS EDWARDS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, April 15, 2003 Robert "Bob" Edmond Edwards, 81, died April 13, 2003. He was a native of Nansemond, Va., and the widower of Mary Helen Edwards. The son of the late Ernest and Edna Parker Edwards, he was a World War II veteran and a member of Whaleyville United Methodist Church. He retired after 35 years of selling Ford Motor vehicles. He began working in 1950 for Godwin Motors, then Tyree Jones and Albert Ford, and ended his career in 1985 at Mike Duman Ford. He was a 50-year member of the Traveler's Protection Association Post "P." He was also a 15 consecutive year member of the Ford 500 Club. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rita E. and Marvin "Boots" Mathews; a son and daughter-in-law, William "Ernie" and Paula Jean Edwards all of Suffolk; four grandchildren, Paul Mathews, Lori Mathews Quinn, Angela Ruest and William E. Edwards Jr.; great-grandchildren, Mikayla Ruest and Emily Marie Mathews; and four nieces and one nephew. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. George Griffin in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home.
