FRANKLIN - Minnie Blythe Edwards, 89, died Saturday, March 30, 2002.
Born in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Stafford and Lillie Joyner Blythe, and was the widow of Joseph Elliott Edwards Sr. She was a devoted wife and mother and a member of the Hunterdale United Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph E. Edwards Jr. and his wife, Barbara, and Ronald B. Edwards and his wife, Becky, all of Franklin; two daughters, Faye Edwards Stephens and her husband, Billy, of Walters, and Linda Edwards Hall and her husband, Fred, of Franklin; a sister, Lillian B. Johnson of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren, Brian Stephens, Jennifer Stephens, Melanie Cross, Chad Edwards, Eric Edwards, Wendy Allanson, Jamie Hall and Holly Edwards; four great-grandchildren, Shane Stephens, Jeremy Edwards, April Cross and Gavin Bryant. Mrs. Edwards was predeceased by a sister, Virginia B. White and two brothers, Stafford Blythe and Elmo Blythe.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Denise Smelley and the Rev. Henry T. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery . The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Joe and Barbara Edwards, 22498 Sedley Road. Memorials may be made to the Hunterdale United Church of Christ, 741 Hunterdale Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
