Margaret Ellis Morgan, 88, died Feb. 18, 1999, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Born March 17, 1910, in Ashland, Va., she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Eunice Ballard Ellis and the widow of Dr. T.A. Morgan. Mrs. Morgan, who taught English in Roanoke, was the oldest female graduate of Randolph Macon Men's College in Ashland. She was a member of the Franklin Garden Club, past president of the Southampton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and an East Pavilion Nursing Facility volunteer. Mrs. Morgan was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Louise Pace Matthews Circle. She was predeceased by a sister, Louise Montgomery.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret ``Patsy'' Morgan Johnson and her husband, Bill, of Williamsburg; two sons, Thomas Addison Morgan Jr. and his wife, Peggy, and Leslie Daniel Morgan and his wife, Sharon, all of Franklin; seven grandsons, Bill, Paul and Mike Johnson, Chris and Aaron Morgan, Jimmy and Adam Morgan; two great-grandchildren, Evin and Brooke Johnson; and a dear friend, Frances Vaughan.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Edward C. Johnson. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to High Street United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 218, Franklin, Va. 23851.
