Joyce Ellis Bradford, 50, died Jan. 16, 2001, at her home. Joyce was born in Franklin and was a graduate of Southampton High School and Smithdeal-Massey Business School. She was a 25-year employee of the Southampton County Department of Social Services and a lifelong member of Newsoms Baptist Church. 

Survivors include her husband, John E. Bradford; her parents, Howard L. and Bernice C. Worrell Ellis; two stepdaughters, Wanda and Michelle Bradford; a sister, Sandra E. Rountree and her husband, Guy P. Rountree Jr.; a niece, Laura Wright and her husband, Ricky; a nephew, Brian Rountree and his wife, Holly; two great-nieces and one great-nephew, all of Newsoms . 

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Newsoms Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Faison and the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, VA 23851, or the Newsoms Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 29339 South Main St., Newsoms , VA 23874.
