Obituary of William Hayes Felton Sr. WILLIAM HAYES FELTON The Tidewater News - 07-19-2001 SUFFOLK - William Hayes Felton Sr. 87, of the 1500 block of Kings Highway, died July 13 at Louise Obici Hospital. A native of Gates County, N.C.; Mr. Felton was the son of the late Walter Jethro Felton and Katherine Harrell Felton. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Cornwell Felton; three brothers, Jerome J. Felton, Walter S. Felton and Thomas Felton; and a sister, Katherine Brinkley. He retired as an emergency service-man for Dominion Virginia Power after 40 years and retired as a funeral assistant with Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home. He was a member and Deacon emeritus of Suffolk Christian Church and the Baraca Sunday School class. He was a charter member of Kings Fork Ruritan Club and the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers from more than 60 years. The widower of Ruth Cornwell Felton, he is survived by son of daughter-in-law, William "Bill" Hayes Felton, Jr. and June Shaw Felton of Suffolk; grandson, William Robert Felton of Windsor; sister, Margaret Felton Rountree of Gates County, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Sunday at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Mike Derflinger with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
