Obituary of Jesse Johnson "Jay" Finley Jr. JESSE JOHNSON FINLEY JR. Virginian Pilot  11-20-2000 FRANKLIN  J.J. Jay Finley Jr., 90, died Nov. 19, 2000, at his home. Born in Charleston, S.C., he was a son of the late J.J. and Mary Darby Finley and the widower of Ethel Rowe Kirkland Finley. A 1928 graduate of Franklin High School, Mr. Finley was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the Accounting Department of Union Camp Corp. He was a 56 year member of American Legion Post 73, a member of Franklin Lions Club and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Survivors include two sons, William K. Finley of Greensboro, N.C., and J.J. Finley, III and his wife, Frances, f Waldorf, Md.; two grandchildren, J.J. Finley, IV and Darby Elizabeth Finley. He was predeceased by one brother and one sister, Charles Finley and Emily F. Fowler. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church with the Rev. Edmund Pickup officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
