Obituary of MARY LEE FOLK The Virginian Pilot – 03-23-1994 SUFFOLK – Mary Lee Folk, 90, a well known educator, of 408 Park Road, died March 21, 1994, in Obici Hospital. A native of Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Junius Winfield Folk Sr. and Cleopatra Rawls Folk. She had retired after teaching in the Nansemond County School System for 44 years. Miss Folk was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, Holland Road, its Ladies Star Class, the Richie E. Brittle Circle and the Fellowship Club. She served as church secretary and treasurer for 42 years. Miss Folk was a graduate of Longwood College. She was chosen Teacher of the Year in 1952 by the Suffolk-Nansemond Chamber of Commerce, and was given a lifetime membership in the Parent Teacher Association. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth F. Poole and Louise F. Joyner, both of Suffolk; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. by Dr. Merle D. Correll in Bethlehem Christian Church, Holland Road. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
