Obituary of Elizabeth Pope Hancock Fowler ELIZABETH POPE HANCOCK FOWLER Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, March 2, 2003 Elizabeth Pope Hancock Fowler, 86, passed away Feb. 28, 2003 in the East Pavilion of Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Newsoms, she was a daughter of the late Willie Grover Pope and Florrie Gray Pope. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert L. Hancock III and was the widow of W. Randolph Fowler. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and friend. Elizabeth was a member of the High Street United Methodist Church in Franklin and a former member of the Courtland Baptist Church. She served as a Pink Lady for Southampton Memorial Hospital for many years. Survivors include three daughters, Betty H. Bryant and husband Stephen of Boykins, Ann H. Kellogg and husband Boyd of Franklin and Vivian H. Hall and husband Jim of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; two half sisters, Barbara P. Burgess of Courtland and Gwendelyn P. Overby of Branchville; three half brothers, Linwood (Cat) Pope of Newsoms, James Pope of Courtland and William Pope of Newport News; eight grandchildren, Dennis Bryant, Larry Bryant, Nancy Marks, Vicky Ludlam, Patrick Herbert, Rob Herbert, Jennifer Wheeler and LeAnne Wiggins; 10 great-grandchildren, Carly Williams, Alex Bryant, Keith Bryant, Cam Herbert, Kay Herbert, Tyler Ludlam, Caz Wheeler, Hannah Herbert, Melanie Marks and Lauren Wiggins. Mrs. Fowler was predeceased by her sons, Robert L. (Bobby) Hancock IV and Charles E. Hancock; a sister, Virginia Pope King; and a brother, Harvey G. Pope. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Tommy Speight and the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
