Obituary of Herbert Wallace Francis Sr HERBERT WALLACE FRANCIS SR The Tidewater News - 02-27-2005 Capron - Herbert Wallace "Puddin" Francis, Sr., 88, died Feb. 25, 2005, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Joshua Arnold and Dona Vick Francis. Puddin was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and retired postmaster of the Capron Post Office. He was a member of the Capron United Methodist Church and a former member of the Capron Ruritan Club. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Emily rose Francis; a daughter, Elizabeth F. Hines and husband Tripp of Richmond; three sons, H. Wallace Francis Jr. of Kitty Hawk, N.C., James Arnold Francis and wife June of Gloucester and Walter Johnson Francis and wife Allison of Capron; two sisters, Bertha F. Vaughan of Franklin and Margaret F. Drake of Tennessee; a brother, Vernie W. Francis Sr. of Capron; nine grandchildren, Keith Hines, Meade Craun, Michael Francis, Shannon, Carden, Dristin Rogers, Carolyn Quivers, Hattie Francis, Clara Francis and Walter Francis, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Hines, Austin Rogers and Preston James Quivers. Mr. Francis was predeceased by a grandson Bret Hines; a daughter-in-law Becky C. Francis; three sisters Elsie Dover, Gladys Draper and Jesse Withers; and two brothers, L. T. and Moncure Francis. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Capron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beth Marie Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Capron Cemetery.
