Obituary of William S. Francis Sr. WILLIAM S. FRANCIS SR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 13, 1997 William S. Francis Sr., 82, died Tuesday, March 11, 1997, at Masonic Home of Virginia. Mr. Francis was born in Branchville and was the son of the late David Raymond and Margarie Francis. He was a member of Westhampton United Church, Richmond, and a master mason at St. Tammany Lodge of the Grand Lodge of Free Masons. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from the U.S Public Health Service. He was the husband of the late Alice Wood Francis and grandfather of the late Mary Catherine Francis. He is survived by two sons, William S. Francis Jr. of Richmond, David Raymond Francis of Atlanta; two daughters, Carole Anne Wadlin of Chapel Hill, N.C., Alice Beth Lawson of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Margarie Floyd of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, by the Rev. Bill Fergurson. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Association for Retarded Citizens of Virginia, 6 N.
