MARY FREEMAN VICK

 Mary Freeman Vick, 77, a resident of Branchville, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Sentara Leigh Hospital, Norfolk. 
She was born in Nash County, N.C. She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters and her parents, John W. and Mary Lockridge Freeman. In 1986, she retired from Narricot Industries, Boykins, after working 15 years in the Quilling Department. In 1990, she began a catering service, which quickly became known for delicious fried chicken and desserts. She was an active member of Crossroads Community Church, serving the church in many capacities. 
A devoted and much-loved community member, Mrs. Vick was known as the ''Mother'' of Branchville and as a Grandma to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She served for over 30 years as the Branchville town clerk and treasurer, as a member of the Town Council for two terms, and as a member of the Board of Directors and treasurer of Branchville Community Center. She also served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Branchville Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years. 
She is survived by a daughter, Gail V. Hinson and her husband, Roger, of Branchville; seven grandchildren, David Hinson and wife, Dale, of Branchville, Dwayne Hinson and wife, Patricia, of Severn, N.C., Sherrie H. Senter and husband, James ''Zeke'', of Erwin, N.C., Denise H. Baggett and husband, Leonard, of Franklin, Wendy H. Pulley and husband, Roy, of Severn, N.C., Melinda H. Woodward and husband, Robert, of Branchville, and Andrea H. Hill and husband, Jeff, of Franklin; 12 great-grandchildren, Jamie Worrell, Amber Hinson, Jamie and Melissa Beatty, Aaron and Dustin Senter, Ray and Derek Baggett, Alex Pulley, Megan and Sara Beth Woodward and Rebekah Hill; and several nieces and nephews. 
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Crossroads Community Church, Branchville, by Dr. Chreston Holoman, Pastor Orson V. Gay and Evangelist Earl S. Tyson. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins.
