Obituary of Richard Alton "Flash" Galtress RICHARD ALTON GALTRESS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, September 23, 2000 Richard Alton ``Flash'' Galtress, 84, died Sept. 21, 2000, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Southampton County, he was a son of the late William Richard and Tena Raiford Galtress. He was a retired machine tender with Union Camp Corporation. He was a member of Sedley Baptist Church and a charter member of the Sedley Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Allie Harrell Galtress; three daughters, Marjorie G. Webster and her husband, Daniel, of Richlands, N.C., Lois G. McCourt of Hopewell and Jacqueline G. Bradshaw of Courtland; a son, William J. Galtress Sr. and his wife, Jean, of Zuni; four sisters, Martha Duke of Colonial Heights, Dorothy Denson of Suffolk, Jean Vaughan of Franklin and Lillian Travis of Wakefield; two brothers, Thomas Galtress of Franklin and George Galtress of Carrsville; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Adams and Mabel Arrington, and two brothers, Henry Galtress and Norman Boykin. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park .
