Obituary of Hiram Jordan Gardner Jr. HIRAM JORDAN GARDNER JR. Virginian Pilot - 04-22-1998 SUFFOLK - Hiram Jordan Gardner, Jr., 82, died April 21, 1998. A native of Nansemond County, he was the son of the late Verna Hobbs and Hiram Jordan Gardner Sr. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Shop 11, as a supervisor. Mr. Gardner was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, Suffolk Masonic Lodge No. 30, the Order of the Eastern Star Sinai Chapter No. 18, the Portsmouth Commandery No. 5 and Mount Nebo Royal Arch No. 20. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Byrd Gardner; sons and daughter-in-law, William A. and Dawn Gardner of Henderson, N.C., and Wayne A. and Judith Gardner of Eure, N.C.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers and a sister. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Melvin. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery.
