Edward Randolph "Bill" Garner, 60, died Jan. 7, 1991, in a Petersburg hospital. 

Mr. Garner, a native of Southampton County, had retired as a supervisor from Smithfield Packing Inc., after 18 years. He was a member of Ivor Baptist Church, Ivor Hunt Club and the National Rifle Association and was a former member of the Ivor Volunteer Fire Department. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. 

Survivors include his wife, Lina Sue Simms Garner; three sons, Gary F. Garner of Wakefield, and Carl R. Garner and Edwin H. Garner, both of Ivor; a sister, Shirley G. Baldwin of State College, Pa.; and six grandchildren. 

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. Larry Burkhart. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and other times at the residence. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Ivor Volunteer Fire Department or to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Edward Randolph "Bill" Garner, 60, died 7 January 1991, in a Petersburg hospital.  

Mr. Garner, a native of Southampton County, had retired as a supervisor from Smithfield Packing Inc., after 18 years.
