Obituary of EDWARD R. GARNER Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - January 8, 1991 Edward Randolph "Bill" Garner, 60, died Jan. 7, 1991, in a Petersburg hospital. Mr. Garner, a native of Southampton County, had retired as a supervisor from Smithfield Packing Inc., after 18 years. He was a member of Ivor Baptist Church, Ivor Hunt Club and the National Rifle Association and was a former member of the Ivor Volunteer Fire Department. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Lina Sue Simms Garner; three sons, Gary F. Garner of Wakefield, and Carl R. Garner and Edwin H. Garner, both of Ivor; a sister, Shirley G. Baldwin of State College, Pa.; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. Larry Burkhart. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
