Obituary of Floyd Herbert Gay FLOYD HERBERT GAY Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, July 13, 2001 Floyd Herbert Gay, 79, of the 1400 block of Wilroy Road, died July 11, 2001, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Isle of Wight County, Mr. Gay was the son of the late Charlie Lee Gay and Ballie Griggs Gay. He was predeceased by three brothers, C.L., Russell and George Robert Gay. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Zuni, and Suffolk Moose Lodge No. 141. He retired as a machinist from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and from the Greyhound/Trailways bus terminal Suffolk as a ticket agent, both after 21 1/2 years of service. He later worked for Advance Auto Parts on Main Street in Suffolk and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his sister, Mildred Gay Vanderburg of Portsmouth; and half sister, Nellie Gay Gaines of Newport, Tenn. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Douglas Van Niel. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery with military honors accorded at the grave. Friends my join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
