Obituary of Alfred Percy Gillette ALFRED PERCY GILLETTE Alfred Percy Gillette 84, a lifelong resident of Capron, Va., and retired rural letter carrier, farmer and master gardener, died May 4, 2005 at his home. A graduate of Capron High School and Virginia Tech, he was an Army major during WWII. Percy was a member of Capron Ruritan Club, the Indiantown Hunt Club and attended Capron Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rebecca Chappell Gillette; his parents, Myrtie Pierce and William Percy Gillette Jr; and two brothers, Cooper and Ben Gillette. Survivors include three daughters, Carole Ann Kinzie, Peggy Gillette and M. Jean Morrison; two sons, William Hart Gillette and Darden Gillette; grandchildren, Susan Johnston, Ed Kinzie, Sharon Redd, Will and Kate Gillette, Benjamin and Daniel Morrison, Justin Gillette and Kristin and Melissa Moreno; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah and Carrie Johnston. A celebration of Percy's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Capron Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Brady officiating. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at the Capron Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of William Hart and Susan Gillette and suggests memorials be made to the Capron Volunteer Rescue Squad or a favorite charity.
