Obituary of FRANCES AYERS GILLETTE The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, December 22, 1994 Frances Ayers Gillette, 66, of 31000 Campbells Run, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 1994, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Gillette was a native of Wythe County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Jefferson Davis and Sally McGraw Ayers. She was the widow of Norman R. "Popcorn" Gillette. Mrs. Gillette was a longtime bookkeeper at Southside Auto Parts until the store closed and was presently a bookkeeper for Lupton Electric. She was a member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia G. Hobbs and Theresa G. Rose, both of Franklin; one sister, Elizabeth A. Wright of Max Meadows, Va.; two brothers, Claude Ayers of Largo, Fla., and J.D. Ayers Jr. of Wytheville, Va.; two grandchildren, Kaci Hobbs and Holly Hobbs; two stepgrandchildren, Melissa Owens and Michael D. Rose; one stepgreat-grandchild, Mikaela Owens. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Franklin Presbyterian Church by the Rev. James A. Lambeth. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. Friends may join the family at the residence. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, the National Kidney Foundation, 503 Libbie Ave., Suite 2C, Richmond, Va. 23226, or Franklin Presbyterian Church.
