Obituary of EDWIN MASON GOURLEY Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - April 4, 1996 Edwin Mason "Buddy" Gourley, 81, of 100 Fairview Drive, formerly a resident of Norfolk, died April 3, 1996. Mr. Gourley was a native of Baltimore, Md., and was the son of the late James D. and Susie Whitehouse Gourley. He was the widower of Olive Johnson Gourley. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr Gourley had retired in 1981 as a sales consultant for Lone Star Industries, now Tarmac, after 40 years in the construction industry. He was formerly a vice president of Southern Materials Corporation. He was an avid fisherman and golfer, and was formerly a member of the Princess Anne Country Club and the Harbor Club. Mr. Gourley was a Protestant. Survivors include a sister, Harriet G. Carlson and her husband, Don, of Anna Maria, Fla.; brother, Francis D. Gourley and his wife, Hilda, of Nags Head; sister-in-law, Ida Virginia Dixon of Carrsville; and nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Richard Peerey. Memorials may be made to the Texie Camp Marks Children's Center, 700 Campbell Ave., Franklin, Va. 23851, or to Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 3593 Carrsville Highway, Franklin, Va. 23851.
