Nancy Gray Whitehead, 88, widow of Marvin L. Whitehead, died June 30,
2004, at Sentara Leigh Hospital. She was born in Manteo, N.C., and was
the daughter of the late William and Sarah Dameron Gray. Mrs. Whitehead
was a member of South Quay Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Whitehead Viscomi of Huntington,
N.Y.; two sons, Gerald R. Whitehead and wife, Retta, of Suffolk and
Marvin L. Whitehead Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Shannon
W. Beckerich, Neal Whitehead, James Viscomi, Emily Whitehead, Eric
Whitehead and Nick Shrewsbury. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs.
Whitehead was predeceased by a grandson, David Whitehead Viscomi.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Southampton
Memorial Park , Franklin, with the Rev. Clyde Alderman officiating. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society of America, 216 Haddon Ave., Suite 328, Westmont, NJ 08108.
Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
