Obituary of Erastus R. Griffin ERASTUS R. GRIFFIN Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - December 14, 1998 Erastus R. ''Pat'' Griffin, 86, a native of Monroe, N.C., died Dec. 13, 1998, at Courtland Health Care Center. He was a member of the Clarksbury Baptist Church, retired after 14 years as a boiler plant supervisor for the Virginia Department of Corrections, and was a school bus driver for Southampton County for over 30 years. He was the husband of the late Vernie Miles Griffin and the son of the late George W. and Julia Belk Griffin. Mr. Griffin is survived by a daughter, Julia G. Doyle Williams and husband, Harold, of Boykins; a son, Ervin Lee Pressley and wife, Shirley, of Monroe, N.C.; four grandchildren, Scott A. Doyle of Boykins, Jennifer D. Vincent and husband, Ronnie, of Manassas, Steve L. Pressley of Monroe, N.C., and Vickie Victory and husband, Frank, of Monroe, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Christopher R. Vincent, Jeffrey B. Vincent, Danielle A. Victory and Jason A. Victory; and a sister, Zora G. Griffin of Boykins. He was predeceased by five brothers and a sister, all from the Monroe, N.C., area. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Boykins, with the Rev. Durward Vaughan and the Rev. J.B. Jarratt officiating. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Clarksbury Baptist Church.
