Obituary of Joe Elbert Frances Griffin Joe Elbert Frances Griffin Brunswick Times-Gazette (VA) - Tuesday, September 28, 2004 Joe Elbert Frances Griffin, 70, died September 22, 2004, in Norfolk following a long illness. Born on March 13, 1934, in Southampton County, he was the son of the late Maynard and Eula Ferguson Griffin. Mr. Griffin, a Christian who dearly loved his family, was a member of the Homebound Ministry of Black Creek Baptist Church and an avid fox hunter. He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Anne; two sons, Kenny (Mary) Griffin of Boykins and Chuck (Eugenia) Griffin of Franklin; five grandchildren, Amber and Earl Hammond, William Griffin, Charlie Griffin and JoAnne Griffin; two great-grandchildren, Bradley and Hannah Hammond; three sisters, Shirley Vaughan, (John), of Margaretteville, NC; Estelle Crump, (Wayne), of Supply, NC and Lucille Roe of Suffolk; a brother, Fletcher Griffin (Joan) of Suffolk; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence and Buck Griffin. A funeral service was held Saturday, September 25, 2004, at the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Kitts and the Rev. Willis Switzer officiating. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms.
