FRANKLIN - Wanda Jean Griffin Edwards, 68, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Monday, Jan. 21, 2002. 

Born May 14, 1933 in Boykins, she was the daughter of the late James Harvey Griffin and Lizzie Felts Griffin. Wanda attended Radford University and the Medical College of Virginia School of Nursing where she received her bachelor of science degree in nursing. She had worked as the patient care coordinator at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Southampton County Public Health Department, had taught nursing at Chowan College, and was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. 

She is survived by her husband, Robert R. "Bobby" Edwards; one daughter, Deborah E. Jenkins and husband John P.; one son, "Bruce" Edwards and wife Sandra I.; four grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Edwards, Megan Nicole Edwards, John Daniel Jenkins and Andrew Paul Jenkins; and one brother, T.R. Griffin. She was predeceased by a brother, James Griffin. 

Funeral services will be held at Wright Funeral Home Chapel, Franklin, at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Dr. Richard Binderup and the Rev. Charles Chappell officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery , Franklin. The family will receive friends at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Franklin Congregational Christian Church building fund or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield.
