Obituary of Jessie Mae Griffith Holland

JESSIE MAE GRIFFITH HOLLAND

Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) December 8, 2005

FRANKLIN - Jessie Griffith Holland, 98, widow of Clarence Lee Holland,
died Dec. 6, 2005, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of
Murfreesboro, N.C., she was the daughter of the late William Hutchins
and Mae Hines Griffith. Mrs. Holland was a lifetime member of New Hope
Baptist Church where she was a former organist and active in the
church's business affairs. After New Hope closed, she started attending
Sunbeam Baptist Church. She was a former employee of St. Regis Paper
Company and a former assistant postmaster at the Como, N.C. post office.

Survivors include two sisters, Norine Parker of Hampton and Elizabeth
Hayes of Como and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Holland was
predeceased by a sister, Leo Harrell and a nephew, Cecil E. Hayes.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in the 
Holland Family Cemetery with the Rev. Willis Switzer officiating. 
Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
