Obituary of Marvin Birden Gunn Sr. MARVIN BIRDEN GUNN SR Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, March 28, 2004 Marvin Birden Gunn Sr., 72, died March 26, 2004, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Buckhorn, Va., he was a son of the late George Washington and Linda Mae Robertson Gunn. Mr. Gunn was employed with St. Regis Paper Co. for 36 years and retired from the Water Treatment Plant for the City of Franklin after six years. He was a member of Burdette Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Crumpler Gunn; two daughters, Linda G. Gavin and husband Elwood "Foots" Gavin of Franklin and Vanessa G. Bailey and husband William C. Bailey Jr. of Courtland; two sons, Marvin B. Gunn Jr. and wife Dawn Reed Gunn and George Earl Gunn and wife Susan Bailey Gunn, all of Courtland; a brother, Odis E. Gunn and wife Katherine of Petersburg; six grandchildren, Celia G. Marston, Jason Marvin Gunn, April G. Carr, Kevin Earl Gunn, Hillary Elizabeth Gunn and Crystal Lynn Gunn; two great-grandchildren, Sean Grayson Marston and Alexandra Gabriel Marston; and numerous special nieces and nephews. Mr. Gunn was predeceased by a sister, Ella Mae Gunn Shaffer and three brothers, Charles Lewis Gunn, Edwin Maxie Gunn and Curtis Lee Gunn. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Burdette Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Cribb officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park .
